Let Us Give Thanks!

The Central Valley is aflame in colors of orange and yellow and red. Who says we don't have color in California? On my daily travels in my town, I see street after street just filled with beautiful fallen leaves in every shade of Autumn. November brings chilly days and evenings and it is time to bring out the flannel shirts and the rain boots. But the best part of November is the gathering of families holding hands at the Thanksgiving Feast and giving thanks for our many blessings. May all of you be blessed with good health and loving family members. Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Hunting

Time has changed, leaves are falling, its getting very chilly and we are on our way to the Holiday Season. It will be here in the blink of an eye! But, let's take these last few precious sunfilled days and.....well let us see what we can find at the antique markets. Lot's of collections from which to choose. Hmm, let me see...maybe some painted, chippy frames?

Oh, I really think this little vintage chest is very interesting.

How about a collection of beautiful seashells. Could really do something with these beauties.

Now, I am not quite sure if I like this collection....a little spooky, if you ask me! But I know some wonderful artists who could come up with some treasures with these cast-aways.

If you are out antiquing during these last few Fall days....happy hunting and hope you have a wonderful week!

Happy Halloween!!

A lovely harvest of pumpkins for the Fall Season is always welcoming! When the temperatures change from the 90's to the 70's, we know it is Fall and we can start decorating our front porches with pumpkins and haystacks.

On Tuesday, we experienced a big old storm that created havoc with windblown trees all over town and created flooding in several places in the neighborhood. DH spent all day Wednesday cleaning the mess. There were bright yellow and red leaves everywhere and fallen tree limbs cluttered the streets. But, now we know that Fall is truly here and we can start preparing for the Season. We can start thinking of hot homemade soups and apple pies and we can store the barbecues away until next Spring.

Here is a lovely harvest of bright orange pumpkins to welcome friends and neighbors. I hope the Harvest Season brings joy to all of you!

A Country Day Faire

On a recent beautiful October day we participated in a lovely local Craft Faire. The weather was perfect and the location was dreamy in a park like setting at one of our local ranches. My DD showed her beautiful jewelry and actually did very well, in spite of the dreary economy. Of course her art is extraordinarily gorgeous, if I do say so myself. We had such a wonderful time.

A beautiful day in the country!
The Ranch had some beautiful antique equipment and engines for everyone's enjoyment!

My friend Roan's booth was a great hit! Her beautiful knitted scarves and hats and purses and her hand made creations were so colorful. They attracted on-lookers and buyers, too!

Here is one of Roan's beautiful knitted hats. Really cute, don't you think?

We usually visit the lovely Lavender Hollow Farm in late Spring, but this year we had a special treat as the Farm opened in late September to showcase their new lavender cooker which is used in the production of lavender essence. And what a treat it was! We enjoyed a wonderful lunch which included a delectable chicken breast, a beautiful fresh salad with lavender infused salad dressing, and of course, lavender lemonade and lavender cookies. We shopped for lavender related items to our hearts content.

This is the new machine at Lavender Hollow Farm that is used in the production of lavender essence to be used in making many wonderful sweet smelling products. We were treated to a demonstration of the operation of the machine and of course we had to have some lovely samples of the product.

This is what is left after the lavender has cooked and the wonderful essence of the lavender has been produced. I guess the compost pile will be growing as the production grows.
